Last night I shared a quick Instagram tutorial on this sign here. Tonight I wanted to share the whole process in more detail.
The decor on my mantel has pretty much been a blank slate since Christmas. I decided to change it up, and so far I have vintage bottled the heck out of it! Haha!
Yesterday I made two signs to dress it up. So here's the process!
Step 1. Cut up a clear plastic three ring binder sheet.
An easy way to do this is to flip your design on your computer horizontally (I use photoshop) & then trace, or print it out. See my super easy method in more depth HERE.
Step 3. Rub the design onto your canvas/sign. I like using a warm sponge on top of the plastic to loosen up the ink and get it in all the crevices.
Next, pencil in any missing lines that didn't transfer.
Step 4. Pen, or paint the stencil in. I like using watercolors, as they give a nice flakey" look on top of latex.
Step 5. Lastly, I sanded over the design once it was dry to give it an antique look.
And that's it!
For the other sign, I decided to pen in the lyrics to our first dance, "You'll Be In My Heart." Yeah, I'm sentimental like that. :)
Well, that's it for now. :)
