My Favorite Ways to Organize in an Open, Pretty Way

We live in a small house, with barely any storage. We don't even have linen closets for our bathrooms. Maybe it's all because of the military moves, but I am proud to say that my husband and I have been really good about condensing & getting rid of stuff we don't need.

But with two kids, in a house under 1000 square feet, we still need to become creative with our organizing. Here are my "stylish" ways to create storage in clean, pretty way.

Disclaimer: This is what works for me- how clean you like your house is up to you. These are just some tips that have helped me be happier & more productive, because a clean house = a happy mommy which = a happy family. :)

We have a good amount of books, and they are all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors. I really hated how they looked aesthetically with their mismatching colors. I didn't want to (and probably wasn't allowed to) rip off the binding, or recover them all with brown paper... So a quick fix to hide "The Football Coaching Bible" and all the other books, was to flip them on their sides, and display the bottoms of the pages

How To Make A Social Media Banner

Cover photos & banners are an excellent way to make your page, whether it is professional or personal, look high caliber. It may seem a little intimidating to do this yourself, but it's actually quite easy to DIY in photoshop.

Goodnight Marines Giveaway

Hey guys! Most of you know that my husband is in the United States Marines. I'm so proud of him for all he does for our country. And I am so glad that our children will have had this experience, and be able to look back down the road and know that their daddy served our nation. I hope they remember all the airplanes, tanks and cool stuff on base. I was always in awe of the military growing up, and would always think it was so cool to see caravans pass by on the highway.

I love this chapter in our life, but it's also a scary one. I don't know how we will handle a deployment. I know that we will pull through, when the time comes, but my biggest concern is for my kids.

June was 1 when Silas left for bootcamp, and he was gone for the next 15 months of her life. That was really hard for her not to have two parents, and the thought of going through that sort of separation again, with two kids, makes my heart cringe.

My grandpa was in the navy while all of his nine kids were growing up... and somehow my grandma survived, so two kids is probably a cake walk compared to that. Lol!

One wonderful way to help the kids understand what deployment is to get them a book about it. I came across "Goodnight Marines" and fell instantly in love. It's the perfect way to teach little ones about their daddy's or mommy's job serving in the military.

Spring Collection of Shop Prints!

Hey guys! So I just couldn't keep my excitement off of the blog today- Now I mostly do free stuff on here, but so many of you have been encouraging me to step out and actually sell my work. That means so much to me that you all think that it's worth buying. So thank you for giving me a boost of confidence. With that all said, I just released some new prints in my digital download printable shop and wanted to share them here.

Most of them are nursery oriented, because that's what's near and dear to my heart with two little ones at home. My favorite print style is pretty much "messy & all over the place." Lol. Anyways, take a peak at the ones below, and if you like one, you can see it in my shop by clicking on the description underneath the photos. They are all just $5 each, but if you use this code, you can get 25% off until Sunday, the 27th.

Here's the code: 25%OFF

27 Legit Hand Drawn Fonts | Part 2

So just about last year exactly I started my own little digital graphics shop on creative market (see it HERE)and to be honest, I have just been blown away by all the talented designers on there who make such amazing digital design resources. I am especially crazy about the fonts and digital graphics! And they are all super affordable, usually in the range of $6-20!

I am really picky about fonts, because I will only use them if they are high quality & seem like real writing. With that said, last year I shared my favorite fonts from Creative Market in a two part series HERE and HERE. and this year, I wanted to continue the series and share some awesome new ones that are a must for every designer's font list.

To see how to add an inky texture to your fonts in photoshop, as shown in the font list image, check out my post HERE. I used ink texture's from my watercolor design kit for the textures HERE.

Enjoy!

This post included affiliate links, but I only share things that I LOVE & think you will too. :)

DIY Wedding Chandelier

No wedding is complete without a chandelier, right? At least it's a necessity for me now, after making one for my sister's wedding ceremony & reception.

It all started with this photo HERE. My sister saw this idea on pinterest, and said it was the backbone of her whole wedding ceremony and reception design.

Insert crafty big sister.

So I (the crafty big sister) went to my local Habitat For Humanity, where I KNEW I had seen large chandeliers for a good price. I walked in and locked in on this one. It had vintage detail potential, despite it's cheap gold finish. A glance at it's $15 price tag confirmed the purchase. That's how I roll!

DIY Garlands

One thing my sister really wanted in her wedding was garlands of silver dollar eucalyptus branches over the doors at her venue.

But she was on a budget, and the places that did have it, didn't have it in stock (and were super crazy expensive, nonetheless!)

My mom was just going to buy the fake kind at Hobby Lobby... and I was like: NOoooooOOOO!

Well, God works in mysterious ways, because just days before the wedding, I was driving with my mom to the mall and we saw a silver dollar eucalyptus tree on the side of the road... We are from San Diego where they are growing left and right, but my mom had never seen them growing in South Carolina.

DIY Wedding Cupcake Stand

This is literally a post that proves the saying "One man's Trash is another man's Cupcake Stand"

I'm not kidding... this cupcake stand was made from a trash can... and also a table leg we found in our neighbor's yard on collection day...  so plural trash... Shhh!!!

I have literally sworn never to make another wedding cake... They are a pain. Now a naked cake... I could do a naked wedding cake... but not a pristine, 9 tiered fondant one (been there done that... and it was so stressful) So I begged my sister to just do cupcakes for her wedding.

How To Change & Adjust Colors In Photoshop

One of the greatest tools photoshop has is the ability to tweak colors. Here are a few methods for adjusting coloring on your photos, graphics, and artwork.

The images I'm using for this tutorial are from Graphic Stock. They have tons of really cool stock photos for this kind of effect. If you aren't already a member, you can still get these graphics as a freebie using a 7 Day Totally Free Trial where you can download 20 images per day, and keep them even if you decided not to continue the trial. And they are royalty free!
