How To Start Your Own Blog And Make Money Doing It | Part 3: How To Monetize It

READ ALL THE POSTS IN THIS SERIES:

So there are SO many ways to monetize your blog or website. Don't have a blog yet? You should seriously do it. Like Right now. See my post HERE on how to get started on setting a blog up. Now when I started my blog as a brand new wife and mother, we were living on a super tight budget, in a tiny cabin which barely had running water on my in-law's property.  My blog really started as a creative hobby, and my heart was to give things away for free to other people who couldn't afford to spend money. I was making stuff for myself, so why not share it? This focus on "giving away" things that I could otherwise sell ended up being a blessing, because it gave me an audience, and platform that I otherwise wouldn't have had.

I've been blogging since 2012, so about 4 years, and it's funny to look back at the first time my blog made actual money. It was around $100 for a month's worth of content. It really wasn't enough for all the hours and effort I put into it, but it was money... I was getting paid to do my hobby. I was so excited. Now I look back and chuckle. ;)

I just want you all to know that this isn't a get rich quick thing. You need to develop quality content, be strategic and patient.

How To Start Your Own Blog And Make Money Doing It | Part 2: Tools And Resources

READ ALL THE POSTS IN THIS SERIES:

I wish I had had a friend or big sister who blogged who could show me the ropes... but instead, I had to figure it all out on my own. One of the things I had to do was research, and stalk other blogs to find out what sort of programs, equipment, and resources they used for blogging. It was really hard since I didn't have any terms or basic web knowledge to go off of. Thank goodness for Google!

This post is devoted to showing you all the basic tools I use on a daily basis. You may not need them all, depending on your specific blogging topic, but most of these are things I couldn't live without.

This series will be divided into three sections: Setting Up Your Blog, My Favorite Tools And Resources, and How To Monetize A Blog.

How To Start Your Own Blog And Make Money Doing It | Part 1: Setting Up A Blog

READ ALL THE POSTS IN THIS SERIES:

We live in an era where we can't imagine living without our smart phones, laptops, and God forbid the Internet! It's a world where anyone, regardless of class, location and means, can start an online presence... in their pj's... snuggled up in bed (You bet I'm guilty of that one!!!)

A question I get all the time is "How do I start a blog & what are your recommendations?" The whole blogging thing was something that I figured out all by myself. I would have loved to have a friend to show me the ropes, and save me a bunch of headaches. So today I'm going to be that friend to you. This post is all about what I have learned about taking my hobby, and turning it into a blog, and more importantly, a business.

This series will be divided into three sections: Setting Up Your Blog, My Favorite Tools And Resources, and How To Monetize A Blog.

Headboard Ideas...

Hey, I need your help to decide what to do with June's headboard.

Should I go with the Window or Tufted headboard? I'm trying to find a spot for this pretty window, and I thought I would try it as a headboard because it's too heavy to hang anywhere.

Let me know what you think in the comments. :)

Double Exposure Tutorial

Photoshop allows us to do so many fun, artistic things, like merging photos into one cohesive one. Today we are going to be talking about a popular effect: Double Exposure. It's a process of layering photos (usually a subject and nature elements) together & is really cool!

While some approaches use layer masks for this effect, we will mainly be using a clipping mask.

How To Build A $25 Toddler Bed

Today I am FINALLY showing you all how we built this simple toddler bed. It's super easy. I promise. As a basic overview, we used 2x4's for the legs (like on my desk HERE) and base, and a 1x4 for the sides of the bed, over the 2x4 base... And a 1x6 for the foot and head of the bed...

Now, I hate sketch up for building 3D plans... it gives me a headache, so I just decided to show you how we built it using real photos of the process.

Here are the boards you will need, along with the measurements to cut them at.
