Bassinet Redo

Hey Everyone! Hope you are all doing well. Personally, I don't want summer to end, so I'm in denial that it's flying by so fast!

Anyways, to day I thought I'd show you all one of the last "befores" from  Jason's Nursery

I've had a lot of questions about this sweet bassinet. Mainly where it's from.

It is actually an antique that was give to us by a mutual friend. It was actually a mahogany color when we got it first. But when we had June we spray painted it a cream color to match our bedroom from way back when we first got married. Unfortunately, the only before photo I have of it was from it's "cream" stage.

DIY Ammo Can Diaper Box

I wanted to do something fun & creative for diaper storage for Jason's nursery.

Hand Lettered By Hannah: DIY Boot Camp Love Letter Artwork

There is nothing like a long, miserable separation like boot camp or deployment to make the heart grow fonder... I literally felt sick with loneliness when my husband left for boot camp to become a US Marine. I had a wonderful support system at home, but he is the one my heart loves.

The best thing that came from boot camp was the letters. Oh my, those precious, beautiful letters from him were like gold. I would write him every single day, but he only was able to fit it in late at night using a flashlight under a blanket when no DI's were around. He sent me a lot considering how scare his time was. To read more about my tips for boot camp from the home front you can go HERE, or read about my first letter from boot camp HERE. To this day I have them in a box.

Now, my amazing wonderful husband isn't the type of guy who says a lot... but he writes amazing letters! So when I considered putting our letters from boot camp up in our room as artwork, I decided to use one of my favorite letters from him & put it up in my room, so I can always look up and know how he truly feels about me every day- without bugging him to say it! LOL! ;) (Pss- Silas, when you read this just remember that I LOVE you just the way you are baby!!!)

I ended up having him choose a letter from me (one without the bank statements... or football draft picks... and sports articles I sent while he was in boot camp please! ;) and making two art canvases.

How To Use A Printer For Ink Image Transfers- A New, Easier Method Without Wax Paper!

Hey everyone! So I have a super cute DIY to share with you guys today. Probably all of you who are on pinterest have seen the idea of printing on wax paper & transferring it onto something else. It's super cool, right? Well, I tried it following the tips from a few different posts, but I could not for the heck of me get my printer to accept the wax paper. It kept pulling the wax paper off the sheet, and getting the tape on the insides of my printer. I just spent more than several hundred dollars on that baby, it's state of the art, and I did not want to break it. So I started brain storming, thinking that there must be a better way to do this.

BOOM! IDEA!!!

Old Dresser Redo

It's amazing what paint can do!

I'm a big fan of reusing & re-finishing furniture. Sure, it is nice to buy new. But there is something so satisfactory about getting something for free (or cheap) that has been used, and transforming it into something fresh and beautiful.

We were given four used dressers several years ago. We redid one (which is now in our master bedroom), used one in June's room (see how we refaced it with pallets, HERE) gave one away because we didn't have room, and held onto this one in case we ever would need it.

Cloud Pillows

Hey guys! Sometimes being a mom means you stay up until 4 am to get work done... that's the truth! Lol. I am not feeling too good as a result. But that doesn't stop me from doing the things I love. And cute nursery pillows are one of those things!

I mean, can it get any cuter than clouds + pillows? I think not. Okay, throw a shirtless baby, and a mountain peak pillow in there and maybe it gets cuter. Yep. It definitely wins the adorableness contest.

I wanted Jason's room to have lots of cute baby pillows in his nursery, so I made him like a billion pillows, including these white & grey storm clouds. They are one of the cutest parts of the room, and they cost me zero $ to make. Yep. That's how I roll. Because I'm cheap... really cheap. Lol.

Kitchen Reno

This week I literally feel in over my head with how much I have going on. All good things though! :)

The biggest one is we are redoing our kitchen!!! AHHHHHH! SO excited!!!

We already bought a new fridge to replace our "newly married" not so gorgeous $100ish craigslist fridge... hey, it worked though. ;)

Basically, we have already sanded (which was a pain!!!) and painted most the wall cabinets white.

Now we just need to paint the doors with our snazzy new paint gun, add the hardware, tile the backsplash (white subway!!!) and add tall molding & encase the fridge...

Okay, so that's a lot to do. But I am so stoked to be starting this! :)

Sources: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

Here is a quick preview of what I have in mind reno-wise. Decorative Hood, lengthening the cabinets with molding, encasing the fridge, and subway tile with a dark grout, etc.

We bought this house with the intent of "dressing it up" to sell. With that said, we don't want to personalize it too much because we will be selling it in a year or two.

As you can see, there is this wall in our kitchen along the sink dividing the kitchen from the living room... it isn't the worst layout choice, but we have considered taking it down to open up the layout. But then we would lose the upper cabinets.

Q: Which would you prefer as a buyer? More Storage Space, or an open view to the kitchen?

Q: Does this color of laminate look okay? We don't really feel  like dropping 2K on counters... And laminate is standard for this price range in the area. I love concrete, butcher block, and stone counters, but I don't know if it's worth it to touch perfectly good laminate.

Q: White or Dark Grout for the tile?

Okay, I am off to play with the paint gun!
