Free 2016 Printable

Happy almost New Year!

2015 has just flown by for me! Part of that is because of my 10 month old, Jason, and almost 4 year old, June. Boy do those two keep me busy! I am SO thankful for all the wonderful things that have happened to my family this year. A new baby, my hard working husband, healthy children, our first purchased house (and decorating it!!!!), and the ability to stay home and be with my kiddos. I am so blessed.

Here's to an equally wonderful 2016!

"If I Can't Find A Reindeer I'll Make One Myself"

I don't know about you, but browsing social media (especially pinterest & instagram) gives me way to many "good ideas" LOL!

The latest one was to do a garland of Christmas tree branches over our kitchen doorway.

June and I watched How The Grinch Stole Christmas the other day (her first time!) and I heard him say, "If I can't find a reindeer I'll make one myself." and I burst out laughing!

I was like: "That perfectly sums up my brain. Guess Mr. Grinch and I are kindred DIY spirits!"

Super Easy Christmas Tree Branch Garland

Hey ya'll! I'm doing a super simplistic, rustic, natural Christmas this year. I mean, we still splurged on Elsa wrapping paper (which is so not in the color theme! But June will only be three once!) Other than that, I'm going all natural everywhere else. To be honest, I am such a picky decorator, so minimal touches here and there are what I feel most happy with.

How to Create Your Own Watercolor Graphics

Hey guys! So the number one requested tutorial I get from readers is how I digitize my watercolor graphics. It's a trade secret that is really super simple, and I am FINALLY sharing it with you all!

First, you need artwork, but that goes without saying. Second, you need photoshop. Third, you really, really want a wacom tablet.

DIY HUTCH | PART 2

So I have been wanting a barn door for ages. But I have nowhere to put one in my small house. When I convinced my wonderful husband to build me a hutch, and we decided to try out a barn door on it.

When I was researching how to build a barn door, most of the tutorials I found required expensive barn door hardware, or had complicated DIY's on bending & drilling through metal. I got a big headache, because I also wanted to make it into a DIY bypassing barn door.

Then I had a light bulb moment: Use a Closet Door Track! Heck yes! Lowes had one the width I needed for under $20. It is seriously super easy, y'all.

So here is my how to:

DIY FARM HUTCH | PART 1

Hey everyone! We have been working on redoing our kitchen for the past few months, and I am loving all the changes! It's a small, galley style kitchen, and I wanted to add some interest to the dining area that flows on the end of it. We originally had a "hand me down" table there. But honestly, it took up too much space for our little house... and it was ugly. So we finally ditched it and came up with a better (and prettier!) solution for the space, as you can see from this post!

The Hunter & The Deer: Sibling Costumes

Hey guys! I just got back from my sister's wedding, thus the post gap. I'm not a blog post scheduler, I am more of an "in the moment" blogger. I post as things happen... Which sometimes means that I am busy chasing my three year old and trying to feed my 8 month old (who is a bottomless pit) instead of being a "good blogger."

But don't worry, I'm not going anywhere!!! :P

This year we didn't really go all out on the trick or treating. I mean, we literally got home right before Halloween, so I didn't have any costume plans for the kids. The wedding kinda monopolized my brain. Lol.

But I winged it, and came up with an adorable sibling combination: the hunter and the deer!

Easy DIY Booskshelf | With Building Plans

Hey guys! Here is a "blast from the past" tutorial that has been sitting in my archives for forever... seriously, it's about time it sees the light of day!

Oh yeah, don't mind the door-less kitchen cabinets in the background. I took these photos weeks ago when I was working on repainting the kitchen. Newsflash: I still have two more doors that need to be hanged. And I thought I could paint them & be done in 2 days. HA! #life

So, by popular request, here is the tutorial for the bookshelf that goes along with my amazing DIY desk. You can see that tutorial (and the plans) HERE

Free Chalkboard Label Printables

Today I have some GORGEOUS free printable Chalkboard labels for you all!

They come "as shown" (aka the pretty vintage version you see in the above photo) and as blank labels so you can just add whatever graphics, text & content you want in photoshop, picmonkey, etc.

Here is how I made mine in photoshop:

Just use the magic wand tool, making sure your contiguous option is checked (found on the menu bar), and select the graphic element you want. After making your selection, right click and press "feather" put at least 1 in as your value & press enter. The makes sure your selection will be smooth & not pixelated. Press CTRL C to copy your selection.

Lead Paint Windows: So I changed my mind... again.

So I went to a lovely local antique store a few weeks back for a fun day out of the house. I had been eyeing these amazing vintage windows she had displayed on the side of her store for literally over a year, and I finally decided to go for it. While they weren't a complete steal (I usually only get things if they are dirt cheap!), I walked away with my gorgeous chippy windows for $45, dreaming of where I would hang them in my house.

I brought them home, and my husband suggested we put them in the back yard instead of the garage, as they needed a lot of clean up. I am so glad I didn't bring them into the house like I wanted (I did sneak one it too see what it would look like briefly though.)

I waited a few days to work on them, and then it dawned on me... "Wait, I should do a lead paint test." (insert DUH!!!)  "I REALLY hope they don't have lead paint, but I should check anyways."

So I got into our truck and drove my three year old and 6 month old to Ace Hardware. On the way there, my daughter kept asking, "Mommy, why you driving Daddy's truck?" Apparently my husband is the only one allowed to drive the truck... LOL!

I came home with a $3 lead paint test, and prayerfully went into the back yard to test my windows.

The kit said the swab would turn pink for mild lead, and red for strong lead... sure enough, my swab was blood red. Waaaah!

My heart broke. I got a lot of great reader information on instagram and facebook about dealing with lead paint safely, so I decided to try my hand at restoring, and covering them to make them safe for decor.

How to Bleach Drop Cloths!

Nice fabric for upholstery can run so expensive. But for those of us who love crisp whites & canvas textures, there is hope! Miss Mustard Seed has a wonderful post that inspired me to try this drop cloth bleaching method out. And today I thought I would share my experience with this technique,

The first time I did this, I just added a few cup fulls of bleach, and soaked for maybe hours. It really didn't make a difference. Here is the method that did work for me:

DIY Deep Tufted Drop Cloth Headboard- the easy way!

I believe your bedroom should be a haven. It should reflect comfort & your personality. It doesn't have to break the bank, but you spend a good amount of time there every day, so why not make it somewhere you want to be?

I've wanted a pretty deep tufted feminine headboard for forever. They are so romantic! My husband likes wood headboards, but he left me go with my gut on this one. I'm always starting a project, and he always saves me from it failing miserably, which is what actually happened during this project. Lol. Poor guy. ;)

Totally Customizable Girl Girl Mock Up

Hey guys! So lots of you all know that I have recently started a Creative  Market Shop where I am selling some of my artwork and digital design resources. Well, I just finished another one that I am so stoked about!!!

If you make lots of printables, artwork, or own a shop where you need to showcase your products, like me, then you want to make sure your listing images are visually appealing to the consumer. That's where a mock up comes in handy; you don't have to spend as much time physically staging your products, and get to focus more time on your actual product.

The whole reason I created this product is because while there are a lot of great mock ups out there, when I went to look for certain items (such as succulents, flowers, paint brushes, antlers, vases, etc) I really couldn't find anything pretty or feminine in the world of product styling photo stock.

So I made my own, and it turned out too good not to share!

All the objects were carefully photographed and digitized, which makes them movable & stageable. One of my favorite things is that all the shadows are editable and check out this transparent glass! Now you can use whatever background you want and the glass will look real!

I made sure to include lots of pretty art supplies too!

I also pre-staged 7 scenes, all with smart layers that you can tweak to your hearts content, making your designs truly one of a kind! Who wants to use the same image again and again anyway? Well, if you do, I also have some REAL staged & photographed series of mock ups like this one (pictured below) HERE.

ValuePack: 4 Feminine Rustic Mockups - Product Mockups - 1

You can find the listing for my new mock up creator HERE.

That's all for now! :)

XOXO

Bassinet Redo

Hey Everyone! Hope you are all doing well. Personally, I don't want summer to end, so I'm in denial that it's flying by so fast!

Anyways, to day I thought I'd show you all one of the last "befores" from  Jason's Nursery

I've had a lot of questions about this sweet bassinet. Mainly where it's from.

It is actually an antique that was give to us by a mutual friend. It was actually a mahogany color when we got it first. But when we had June we spray painted it a cream color to match our bedroom from way back when we first got married. Unfortunately, the only before photo I have of it was from it's "cream" stage.

DIY Ammo Can Diaper Box

I wanted to do something fun & creative for diaper storage for Jason's nursery.
