DIY Gold String Globe Party Lights

There is something so lovely about twinkling lights. They are so romantic! I recently bought a string of them from Walmart for about $12 for a string of 30.

I bought them for June's room, and the "outdoor" green color just doesn't go with her room's color theme. I'm not going to leak any photos of the room yet, but today I wanted to share how to give your outdoor lights a stylish update for your indoors.

First, take off your light bulbs. Mine just popped off and revealed "Christmas Tree Lights." Some have bulbs that totally just unscrew. Either way, take 'em off.

If you have Christmas Tree lights, tape them off to protect the bulbs. If you have an empty socket, tape off the open bulb part.

Do this with all your bulbs.

Shake up your gold spray paint (or color of choice)

Don't soak the cords. If you do, then they will either dry permanently together, or become chippy when pulled apart.

I turned the cords from side to side to give it even coverage.

Doesn't the Golden touch look so pretty on these cords?

I can't wait to show you all where these lights are being displayed in June's room.

  1. wow, I am a sucker for stringlights and often times wished they came in different string colors...super cool idea!!!! Pinned! Christine from Little Brags

  2. What a great idea! I just picked some up for outside and now I think I may need to pretty them up.
