I fell in love with the very first Petti Romper I saw! So I told hubby that I was going to make baby girl one... and he thought, "Okay, I guess she'll do that eventually..." only he was surprised to find that I made one that very day! :P
All that you need for this is:
-A white baby onesie one size bigger than your baby wears
- White elastic band
-Lots of white lace (or something like a table cloth or curtains made out of lace... which is what I used)
Sew it all together! Sew the elastic on & sew the sides together.
It's DONE! :)
Now go and take 354 pictures of your baby girl in her new petti romper! (no, I didn't take 354 pictures... welllllll...) :)
Hope you like it! I would love to hear from you or see pictures if this inspires you to make one too!

very cute!
ReplyDeleteThat Is so adorable!! I think this just may be the first thing I make for my little one :) love the pics!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! Great Tutorial! <3
ReplyDeleteHow much lace did you end up using?
ReplyDeleteI actually cut up some lacy fabric into strips... but an estimate based on the amount of rows I did (which totally depends on how scrunchy you want yours to be), I would say 4 yards would be safe. You could probably even do it under that amount.
Delete15 rows at 10" wide each= 4 yds
Hope that helps!
ps) it also depends on how wide your lace is. Get more than you think you will need.

I LOVE this tutorial beautiful pics! Did use a sewing machine? Is this a two piece romper?
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteI did use a sewing machine, but you don't have to have one to make one!
It isn't a two piece (I know from the top picture it may seem like it, but I just cut off the top from the bottom so I could sew the strips of lace on easier onto a rectangle and then sewed them together again) But I can see it being a two piece too (a ruffle top with a ruffled diaper cover!)
If you have any other questions, just let me know!
Love, Hannah
This is amazingly adorable. I am definitely sewing one of these for the little girl I'm expecting.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like it! Send pictures once you are done if you can!

I pinned an outfit like this about a month ago, it is so great that you made this tutorial, thank you so much, now I just have to go out and make myself another baby, just kidding. I will try to take your instructions to make one for my 2 1/2 year old daughter for next summer. Your baby girl is adorable.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yes, it would be adorable on any little girl!

This is so adorable! I think I need to have another baby girl next time round so that I can make super cute stuff like this! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing (I know how much effort goes into tutorials ;-) )

Thanks! I am glad you like it.
DeleteYes, it is a lot of effort, but worth it! :)

Did you cut the bottom off and then sew it back on after you put the lace on?
ReplyDeleteYes! I also added a layer or two of lace to the bottom though too. It just made it easier for me to sew because mine was didn't have snaps. But you don't have to cut the bottom off if it's a snaps one.
DeleteHope that helps!

did you use the elastic band for the top? and also what kind of elastic did you use? this is so cute!! Been searching for an easy way to make one. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteYes, I just used a generic white elastic for the top so it would hold up. Just don't make it too tight. :)
DeleteGlad you like it!

awww thats adorable.. and your little princess is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteloved the pics at the end.
thank you for the tutorial!
You're very welcome! <3
DeleteHi Hannah! Super cute! Did you create a tunnel for the elastic, or did you just sew it to the rectangle?
ReplyDeleteAnd... I know you said you did 10" long rows, but how wide were they? 10"x?
ReplyDeleteSewing a tunnel around the lace is a great idea!
DeleteAs far as the lace strips, they were about 10" long and maybe like 1.5" wide. But how long and wide you want the lace to be depends on how ruffly you want the lace to be. I would personally play around with it and come up with your own estimate according to your supplies.
Hope that helps! :)
